Hmm not too shabby. Not too shabby at all.
I just had a medium-rare burger with brie, carmelized onions, tomato relish, on a toasted potato bread bun with buttah.

Looks good. I still have to make my dinner. Us Italians don’t start cooking until 7 at the earliest. Whipped up pancakes, fried potatoes, bacon and an egg scramble for Mother’s Day brunch this morning. Planning on fettuccini with kale and a goat cheese alfredo type sauce for dinner.

Pfft
Smoked herb crusted roaster, applewood smoked vegetables (bell peppers, portobello, zucchini, yellow squash, red onion), brown and wild rice, followed by creme brûlée that will be ready in about 45 minutes.

Nah bro. Stewed chicken falling off the bone, sautéed mushrooms, and steamed, fresh asparagus, and a glass of cold, fresh cows milk.

I don’t know, I had Pappasito’s fajitas tonight. The butter that comes with them is possibly the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth.

You have me beat tonight, but my dinner last night was absolutely wonderful. Penne with meat sauce and baked mozzarella, fries, salad, garlic bread, and a nice flight of beer and cider.
(Pictured in the background: my girlfriend’s ravioli with spinach, sundried tomatoes, and a nice three cheese sauce)

I just scrubbed the kitchen and I swear to god I’m never cooking again. I’m probably going to have dry cereal for dinner.

I’m right there with you. My wife really, really wants me to enjoy cooking, but it’s just something I’m not into. EATI NG , on the other hand, is something I’m really into!

I’ve been led to believe that “you Italians” are in a constant state of cooking that never ends. Last time I agreed to go to a “small lunch” with my Italian girlfriend’s family.... There were four massive picnic tables in the back yard, about 80 people, and the entire group had been up cooking since dawn. It was a terrifying experience. Luckily there was amazing food to help me through the ordeal

That sounds about right. Pretty much everything we do revolves around food. I cooked brunch from 8-noon today while everyone hung out, then my dad cooked lunch, then I made dinner which we just finished up. My sister usually makes dessert, but she’s is in Calabria (probably eating with our family over there). My brother spent all yesterday cooking for my nephew’s 3rd birthday. La mia nonna is the beat cook, but we all cook for her now while she enjoys her great grandkids. We cook hard so we can drink hard once all the work is done.
My wife isn’t Italian, so I get a nice perspective of what eating and drinking with Italians looks like to a non-Italian. “Why is everyone yelling at each other?” We aren’t yelling, this is how we talk.

I know that feel. I used a liner for the Dutch oven this time and cleanup was heaven. Pull the cornbread it with the liner... Done.

Agreed.
I went to a super fancy seafood restaurant with my mom.
It was terrible.
Despite the high buy in, there were children everywhere. It was like having dinner in a day-care. When out food came out it had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp and the lobster gnocchi was overcooked.
Desert was good though...
